The recently announced redevelopment of an entire city block in downtown Halifax, known as of 22nd Commerce Square, will create over 500,000 square feet of mixed-use development. Designed to LEED Platinum Core & Shell, it will incorporate five heritage buildings and include boutique hotel, condominiums, Class A office tower, public atrium, plazas and underground parking.
Federal and provincial politicians were on hand August 2013 to celebrate the official opening of the RCMP Regional Headquarters. In his address, RCMP Commanding Officer Alphonse MacNeil stated that the new facility exceeded their expectations and transformed their culture by creating a place of work that fosters a sense of community, belonging and purpose.
