Dalhousie Student Union Building

Conceived as a living room on campus, the renovation and expansion of the Dalhousie Student Union Building provides a conference facility, more common learning and open areas, a new council chambers, collaborative hub spaces and open plan offices.  The design included a full-service banquet facility with four kitchens, bars and various event spaces to accommodate large scale conferences and events.

Substantially improved circulation patterns were provided to better accommodate the multi-layered requirements of university students, event and conference attendees. The rejuvenated facility is naturally daylit and features green collaborative spaces for dining, socializing, academic and administrative work.  Other sustainable innovations include renewable energy via integrated PV solar panels, a bio-filtration ventilated green wall to reduce VOC and airborne toxins, and natural seasonal exterior green shading.
